Drinks at the King William
We are committed to supporting local producers so our guest ales are sourced from local microbreweries. We normally keep a Palmers ale and rotate the other pumps using breweries such a Stonehenge Ales, Milk St brewery, Otter brewery, and Bristol beer factory. So if you have a paticular favorite that hasn’t been on for a while, let us know and we’ll try and get it in. The Georgian cellars maintain the beer at a constant temperature keeping our beer in perfect condition. Our selection of draught lager is second to none with Birra Moretti, Heineken and Amstel available. We also keep a small selection of bottled beers, including Tiger and Corona.

| Syrah Grenache, Saint-Cirice 2008 – Rhone | £4.35 | £5.75 | £17.50 | ||

| Cahors, Malbec, Heritage de Cedre 2008/9- SW France ORGANIC | £21.50 | ||||
| This is the lighter style and a brilliant, savoury expression of the Malbec grape. It is an inky-spicy wine with dried fruits character, reminiscent of spongy fig rolls, with also suggestions of fresh tea and tobacco/menthol. A moreish drink that digests all manner of meaty foods. | |||||
| “House Claret”, Chateau Deville 2005 – Bordeaux | £22.50 | ||||
| From vineyards in the Graves area of Bordeaux and made from the traditional Bordeaux of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Excellent Claret from a very good vintage. Cassis, cedar and the slight hint of ‘forest floor’ on the nose and on the palate good fruit with soft tannins. | |||||
| Domaine La Bousolle, Pinot Noir 2009 – Languedoc | £22.50 | ||||
| Pinot Noir from the Languedoc is unusual and as such this is a very individual wine as it has all of the bright elements of the grape without the more earthy, complex overtones and is soft, supple and full of summer berry fruits and hints of mocha. | |||||
| Beaujolais-Villages, Domaine de la Plaigne 08/09 – Beaujolais | £24.00 | ||||
| Although this is classic Gamay it avoids all of the cliches of boiled sweets and bubblegum! This is deep crimson with vibrant blackberry and cherry fruit and a real hint of earthy structure. Plenty of wine to tackle a steak and charcuterie, but perfect slightly chilled with fish. | |||||
| Bourgueil “La Binette”, Domaine de la Chevalerie 2007 – Loire | ORGANIC | £24.50 | |||
| From 25 year old Cabernet Franc vines that give pretty violet-scented wines for earlier drinking. The wine shows brilliant purple colour, with violet and cassis leaf perfume on the nose; you can sense the purity of the cherry cassis organic fruit and refreshing even succulent palate | |||||
| Cotes-du-Rhone, Domaine Chapoton 2009 – Rhone | £25.00 | ||||

| Saint-Julien, Sarget Gruaud Larouse 2007 – Bordeaux | £40.00 | ||||
| The second wine of the legendary Château Graud Larose, this wine exhibits all of the class one would expect. Cassis and pencil box aromas give way to a supple palate with good fruit, notable, but balanced tannins and firm structure on the finish. | |||||
| Gevrey-Chambertain 1er cru, Domaine Heresztyn ‘06 – Burgundy | £69.00 | ||||
| This estate run by Florence Heresztyn is very highly regarded for its Gevreys. Activity in the vineyard is rigorous aiming at both concentration and purity of fruit. This vivid ruby-red wine has a stunning bouquet of myrtle, blackberries, sloes and bramble not to mention floral notes of violets and jasmine, a sustained palate with exquisite finesse and length. | |||||
| Italy & Spain |
| Tempranillo, Albizu 2009 – Spain | £3.60 (175ml) | £4.75(250ml) | £14.00(Bottle) | ||
